Based in Columbus, Ohio, Mojo Theory performs original blues music that is written, arranged and produced by the members of the band, the array of different musical backgrounds has given them a unique sound rarely found in a blues band. Their original compositions are both imaginative and captivating, conquering the blues enthusiast as well as the novice listener. Without forsaking the core blues traditions of yesterday, Mojo Theory has somehow preserved the blues traditions of the past and merged them successfully with the 21st century. This has allowed them the pleasure of pleasing the young listener as well as the seasoned.

Mojo Theory was selected as winners of the 2008 (BJFM Society) River City Blues Competition in Marietta Ohio; they went on to perform at the BB Kings Blues Club in Memphis TN in the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in early 2009.

The IBC is a yearly competition sponsored by the Blues Foundation that showcases the best blues acts in the United States and from around the world, Bands compete for money, contracts, professional representations and recognition in the blues community. A great feather in the hat for struggling unknown blues bands, and this spectacular event takes place on the famous Beale Street in Memphis "Home of the Blues".

Some past participants and winners include great acts like Tommy Castro, Susan Tendeschi, and Sean Carney from Columbus. 2009 was the IBC's 25th anniversary which featured over 160 bands from around the world and Mojo Theory was there as semi finalists!

The following year (2010) Mojo Theory won the regional challenge and returned to Memphis representing the Pomeroy Blues Society in Pomeroy Ohio. They performed as semi finalist at Alfred's and advanced to Finalist! Mojo Theory was among the top ten acts that performed at the Orpheum Theater that year. They did not win the competition, but they did receive a well deserved national and international recognition.

In October 2012 Mojo Theory entered the West Virginia Blues Society blues competition and was selected the winners, they represented  the West Virginia Blues Society in the International Blues Competition in Memphis TN in January 2013 , featuring over 125 acts from across the globe and Mojo Theory made the top nine in the band finalist  at the Orpheum Theater once more! Mojo Theory is proving that they are a band to watch...

Mojo Theory consists of the showmanship and storytelling of gritty vocalist Mark Richards, creative compositions of guitarist David Warnock, the anchoring bass of Curtis Justus, power drummer Todd Mollette, and the stimulating keyboards of Jeff Morris.
